"I Don't Walk Well But I Walk"
Join us for our eighth annual pride march, one of the oldest black same-gender-loving pride marches in the country. This year registered floats will have an opportunity to win the 2007 Best Float Award. Small businesses, clubs, agencies, and support groups are invited to participate with banners, J-Set performances, and floats. Please contact: Ruth Ellis Outreach Committee for additional registration information. At the end of the march The Ruth Ellis Center will sponsor the Ruth Elllis Birthday Celebration. The Revolution has begun! Men of Detroit, a motivational and empowerment group for African-American MSM (Men who have sex with Men) and African-American SGL (Same Gender Loving) Men will officially kick-off at this years Hotter Than July Celebration, the Midwest's oldest Black Gay Pride Celebration. Come and help us celebrate our new beginning at this year's pride! Then join us in our first topic discussion, "`do you really have to love the same gender in order to have sex? Can't you just have to sex without loving the same gender and having an official label attached to yourself?' What is really the difference between MSM and SGL in the African-American community?" INTERFAITH CANDLELIGHT VIGIL
Join us at the Blue Spruce Evergreen Memorial in Palmer Park. This is the place where we annually start our pride greetings with a call to the ancestors. It's an evening filled with special performances. At dusk we hold a special lighting of the candles ceremony in memory of those who have made their transition due to AIDS/HIV and breast cancer. Special services provided by Full Truth Fellowship of Christ Church - Bishop Darlene C.A. Franklin presiding. HTJ!2007 BLACK PRIDE SOCIETY FILM & SHORT FEST
This year's film festival theme is "Hip Hop Ain't Dead In Da D". The festival features a panel and an artist meet and greet. Evening hosted by Aggracyst of Pick Up the Mic. refreshments served, and sounds provided by Soundcircle Collective's DJ Andre Royster.

Learn, share and nourish your community with knowledge from our annual conference focused on improving the quality of life for people of African descent who identify as same-gender-loving, gay, lesbian, bi or transgender. Special workshop presentations by Detroit's own Men Empowered and S.P.I.C.E. community groups.

The Arcus Foundation's Director of Grant Making Programs, Cindy Rizzo, will present this grant writing workshop . This free workshop will help those with little or no grant writing experience learn how to create effective funding proposals for foundation and corporate funders.
