The success of Detroit's annual black same-gender-loving pride celebration is based on the grass-roots support of community volunteer and activist. The planning committee is open to all men and women in our community interested in improving the quality of life for black gay, lesbian, bi-affectionate and transgender people in Southeast Michigan and beyond. Planning Committee meetings for this year's pride celebration will be held at the new Affirmations Community Center in Ferndale, Michigan. Everyone is invited to participate on all committees.

Call for Artist
The Black Pride Society presents Detroit's Hotter Than July's "Color Me Black" Art Exhibition and VIP Reception on Wednesday, July 25th, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. at the Hilton Gardens Inn in beautiful Downtown Detroit.
We are seeking artist to present their work at our third annual art exhibit during Detroit's Black same-gender-loving, bi-affectionat and transgender pride celebration. Artist are encouraged to submit images of their paintings, sculpture, print, glass, photo, or 3D imaging art for selection. Artists must showcase art with their interpretation of the HTJ!2007 theme "Color Me Black".

The Ruth Ellis Pride March

"I don't walk well but I walk."
-Ruth Ellis Come show us what you do well creatively and take the trophy home with you. If you organization has the most creative banner, the most original float, the best march steps or anything in-between you could have your name listed on the trophy for 2007 and the Pride Trophy can be displayed in your showcase for the year.

Join us for our eighth annual pride march, one of the oldest black same-gender-loving pride marches in the country. This year registered floats will have an opportunity to win the 2007 Best Float Award. Small businesses, clubs, agencies, and support groups are invited to participate with banners, J-Set performances, and floats.
