HTJ!2007 REVIEW The Black Pride Society welcome's you to the 13th annual Detroit's Hotter Than July, the Midwest's oldest black same-gender-loving pride celebration. Our 2008 theme "Embracing Our Past, Celebrating Our Future" celebrates a legacy of pride in our community, We are proud to be one of the country's oldest pride events for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people of African descent in North America. We encourage you to network, socialize, and spread the cheer of pride, and tell a new friend "Happy Hotter Than July" when passing by.

"I Don't Walk Well But I Walk"
It's a colorful parade south down historic Woodward Ave. Join us for our 9th annual pride march, one of the oldest black same-gender-loving pride marches in the country. We encourage J-Sets, floats, banner waving, drums, and dog walking. Everyone is invited to participate. Let's make this the largest march yet. [Review 2007 Pride March]

Thursday, July 24th
INTERFAITH CANDLELIGHT VIGIL
Join us at the Blue Spruce Evergreen Memorial in Palmer Park. This is the place where we annually start our pride greetings with a call to the ancestors. It's an evening filled with special performances. At dusk we hold a special lighting of the candles ceremony in memory of those who have made their transition due to AIDS/HIV and breast cancer.

Our annual film festival is held at the Focus Hope Conference Center in Detroit. More information about films to come.

HTJ!2007 POETRY SLAM 3.0
Presented by the popular EchoVerse Poetry & Slam Series with Resident Host Johnny "Obadele" Jenkins Jr. Features special guest performances and Detroit's only same-gender-loving "All Kinds Of Poetry" open mic. The evening features a special slam offering a cash and HTJ!2008 Grand Slam Champ title. Limited slam slots available, all poets invited to participate. The pinnacle event of Detroit's 13th annual pride celebration is like a family reunion and you’re invited. Each year the Palmer Park Festival is host to over 10k folk taking a moment to celebrate culture, self-empowerment and identity. HTJ!2007 JAZZ BRUNCH: THE RED CARPET EDITION
This year's brunch will be held at The Vu in Cobo Center. Enjoy soul music, great food and good company, complimented by a picturesqe view of Detroit's' international river.
